What can we say? Here at Frankly Irresistible we know how important it is to look after your skin. It’s the body’s largest organ and it weighs - on average - a whopping 8 pounds. Think of that.
Our skin is waterproof, it protects us from extreme temperatures, infections and damaging chemicals. So why then, would we want to smear our skin with nasty ingredients commonly found in popular products?
Yup - that’s right. Some high street favourites are packed with synthetic colours, sodium laureate sulphate, phthalates, propylene glycol and triclosan. All these things have shown to be either carcinogenic, or major irritants.
Deodorants can be the worst offenders, with some containing both phthalates and aluminium salts, which have been linked to the development of breast tumours.
We know your risk of getting cancer depends on many factors like genetics, and other things that you can do absolutely nothing about. But at the same time, we also know that environmental factors can play a role in some cases.
So, why not reduce your risk, even by a small amount? Breast Cancer UK has tons of information on this.
It’s one of the many reasons we like to keep things as natural as possible at Frankly Irresistible. We just don’t need harmful chemicals.
Here at Frankly Irresistible, we are all about the natural. Why would you want to put any nasties on your body when we’ve got so many beautiful and natural ingredients all around us?
Our star ingredients
All our products feature high quality, natural, organic aromatherapy oils and centre around our three absolute favourites: gold, frankincense and myrrh.
And why do we love these three so much? Well, it’s nothing to do with Jesus - although we do think they bring a bit of royalty to the party. It’s because they have many health-boosting benefits – they’re packed with vitamins A B2, B6, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. And they’re bursting with polyphenols and antioxidants.
It’s not just skin care. It’s skin food that nourishes, while repairing, recuperating, rejuvenating and revitalising the skin.
Let’s start with gold. Its structure contains a lattice of cations and delocalised electrons. It’s great for absorbing the harmful blue light that has been shown to cause damaging changes to skin cells.
Then there’s the linchpin of our philosophy: frankincense. This fragrant beauty is packed full of treats to complement and boost your health and wellbeing. It contains the compound incensole acetate which – as well as being an effective anti-inflammatory – has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression.
And finally, we come to myrrh. Like frankincense, it is beautifully fragrant. Also like frankincense, it is full of health benefits. Research suggests that it has pain relieving qualities. It’s a win-win.
Looking after your skin from the inside is just as important as what you put on the outside. This is why our beauty routine – an inside job and my best kept secret – always starts with our signature product: Frankincense Tonic Water.
It’s bursting with health-boosting ingredients. Our customers report that regular use has reduced their symptoms of COPD, asthma, pain, and arthritis. Read more about it here.
We also want to tell you about our delicious Lovers Potion, inspired by the Ancient Egyptians who mixed frankincense and myrrh together to form a wonder oil. The resulting blend helps to relax your body and mind, reducing stress and boosting emotional wellbeing.
Add a few drops to your bath - oil and water do mix! Or enjoy an invigorating massage. And it also contains 23ct edible gold to enhance collagen production and boost skin elasticity.
100% natural and organic deodorant
So, we know the dilemma: you don’t want to keep putting harmful ingredients on your skin, but you do want to keep feeling – and smelling – fresh all day.
Head over to our shop to check out our natural beauty products.
We’ve also got a lovely little recipe to share with you. Here’s our answer to the deodorant dilemma:
1. Take 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
2. Mix with 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda until it becomes a paste (we like to use a food blender for this)
3. Add 1 drop of frankincense essential oil - we recommend Tisserand or Neal’s Yard who both source their oils ethically.
4. Add 1 drop of myrrh essential oil
5. Add 1 drop of lemongrass essential oil (or choose your favourite alternative)
6. Scoop the mixture into a 50ml glass jar and put it in the fridge for an hour.
7. Then you can store it in a cool, dark place
8. To use, just take a finger swipe of the mixture and apply to each underarm.
9. Wash your hands after use.
This makes a deodorant that is 100% organic, and it smells fab!
