Updated: Jul 22

If you’re a regular customer, you know that we are all about the natural here at Frankly Irresistible. In fact, it’s essential to us that we are as natural, yet as powerful and effective as possible.

And that’s why we luuuuurrvvve essential oils. And we’re not the only ones.

People have used essential oils and aromatherapy for healing many ailments – physically, psychologically, and emotionally – for thousands of years.

Their use can be traced back to ancient civilisations. The Romans, the Egyptians, the Greeks, and ancient Indians and Chinese used them in perfumes, drugs, and cosmetics. Of course, this was long before the huge conglomerates took over the world!

They’ve always been a luxury item and at one time they were used as currency to pay for goods – they were that valuable!

The benefits essential oils bring have been celebrated across a diverse range of cultures and societies all through history.

So, what are the benefits of essential oils?

We love all essential oils and never get tired of talking about them. There are so many, bringing their own benefits. From massage oils, moisturisers, cosmetic face cleansers and luxurious bath oils. They cover the lot when it comes to natural beauty.

Today, we thought we’d talk about some of our favourites. We know you’re going to love them!

Our clients report that the aroma of essential oils has the power and potency to positively influence the mind as they enhance their health and wellbeing holistically.

And with some of our favourites – rose otto, frankincense, and myrrh – counted among the 20 sacred oils, we’re even more excited to talk to you about them.

Rose otto

This powerful antioxidant not only smells delicious, it helps fight free radicals which cause damage to the skin, usually from UV exposure.

With a protein molecular structure close to our own skin, it can help regulate moisture levels, improving signs of ageing, rejuvenating, and plumping up the skin. Our clients notice the instant visible effects, especially around the eye area.

It does all of this while smelling like freshly cut rose petals. No surprise when you consider it takes 60 roses to make one drop of this wonder oil. Beautiful.

Sweet orange

This organic sweet and citrusy vitamin C treat is our favourite for lifting the mood and bringing a boost of energy. It’s a great stress reliever and our clients say it works wonders on skin conditions such as acne and redness.

It’s perfect in a room diffuser too, bringing a fresh, summery fragrance. Delicious.

Lemongrass

This is another fresh and citrusy scent. Lemongrass oil is the one for us when we’re feeling low. It’s a great salve when you’re stressed or anxious, and it can coax a smile out of us even when we’re at our gloomiest. Uplifting.

Frankincense

Our signature scent – frankincense is our go-to when we want to feel energised. With pine and citrus notes, and spicy undertones, to us it feels like coming home. It’s incredibly invigorating.

Because frankincense is full of polyphenols, antioxidants and alkaloids, which can help to break down free radicals and bacteria.

We’re firm believers that we should pay as much attention to what we put onto our skin as we do to the clothes we wear and the food we eat. It all sinks in, so make sure it’s natural.

Myrrh

With all its lovely warm and aromatic woody sweetness, myrrh is a party for the senses. This is another one that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine and scientists have recently been investigating its potential use in treating pain, skin irritations, and infections. It has antibacterial properties, supports skin health and some studies have shown that it reduces pain. It’s a winner.

Gold

We’ve recently introduced gold to some of our products for that extra bit of luxury and boy, are we glad we did!

According to board-certified dermatologist and Skincare.com consultant Dr Hadley King, the benefits are real.

So, what are the benefits of gold in skincare?

Although there haven’t been many studies on the use of gold in skincare products, the studies that have been done confirm the benefits of gold on the skin.

· The light reflecting particles boost radiance by making the skin look luminous.

· It is thought that gold can help to combat the loss of collagen in the skin. In fact, colloidal gold is used to treat arthritis.

· Gold particles have antioxidant properties, so can potentially protect against free radical damage.

Universal Bliss

It’s all in the name. It really is bliss. Apply this face oil with a couple of drops of water to carry its goodness to the deeper layers of the skin. Rose otto, sweet almond, frankincense, and myrrh oils are the stars of this one. It smells delicious while nourishing your skin with vitamins A, E, B1, B2, B6 &. Massage this beauty in and you’ll feel energised and invigorated.

Lovers’ Potion

This is a unisex body oil containing our signature oil, frankincense, along with myrrh and gold for an extra bit of luxury. Gold can help boost collagen production and works wonders on skin elasticity. Sweet and aromatic, this oil is a real treat for the senses. It’s a great stress reliever.

Layer Cake

Our Layer Cake body oil is real indulgence. Sweet orange oil and frankincense along with lemongrass and sweet almond combine to form an uplifting and energising scent. This gift for the skin promotes cell renewal, boosting elasticity. It also tightens and tones the skin while relaxing the body and mind.
